The second half of Psalm 78 continues recounting Israel’s repeated rebellion despite God’s repeated mercy and deliverance. God disciplines His people but never abandons His covenant purposes, eventually choosing Judah, Zion, and David to shepherd His people. The psalm ends with hope as God provides a faithful shepherd after generations of failure.

Human failure does not cancel God’s faithfulness. Even when people fall short again and again, God continues working His redemptive plan and raising up leaders to guide His people back to Himself.
