In this Psalm, Asaph recounts several victories in Israel’s history and uses them to remind the people of the goodness of God toward Israel. No victory was greater than the exodus from Egypt through the Red Sea. The “Song of Moses,” written at that time, includes the celebration of the destruction of “both rider and horse” being cast into the sea, (deep sleep), cmp. Ex. 15:1-8, Ps. 76:4-8.

Embedded in this Psalm is a promise, “The wrath of man shall praise you” v10. Christ came to destroy the works of the devil, (1 John 3:8). The greatest destruction is when He causes the wrath of the enemy to praise Him.
