PROVERBS 30 - The Wisdom of Enough

There is great wisdom in recognizing our limitations. Proverbs 30 begins with a humble acknowledgment that we do not know everything. Rather than trusting in our own understanding, we are invited to rely on the truth of God’s Word (v. 5–6).

One of the most meaningful prayers in this chapter is simple: give me neither poverty nor riches, but only my daily bread (v. 8–9). Agur understands that both need and abundance can test our hearts. Contentment helps us depend on God rather than possessions.

Our culture often tells us that the answer to life is more: more success, more security, more possessions. Yet Agur reminds us that both abundance and need can draw our hearts away from the Lord. True wisdom is learning to trust God’s provision and recognize that He is enough.

Where are you tempted to believe that more will bring lasting satisfaction? Thank the Lord for His provision and ask Him for a contented heart.
