True friendships are a blessing from God (v. 9). A faithful friend knows how to encourage us with the right words and challenge us when we need to hear the truth.

Sometimes those words may feel like a wound, yet Scripture reminds us that the wounds of a faithful friend can be trusted (v. 6). These friendships bring sweetness to our lives, helping us remain grounded in humility and wisdom.

Proverbs also reminds us not to boast about tomorrow or seek our own praise (v. 1–2). True friends help us keep a proper perspective, encouraging us to give glory to God and remain grateful for those He has placed in our lives.
