Stephen stood before the Sanhedrin, accused of speaking against the temple, and recounts Israel’s history from Abraham to Solomon. He reminds the leader that “the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands,” confronting their misplaced identity. Echoing the LORD’s address to the Hebrew people in the wilderness. Stephen says, “You stiff-necked people…You are just like your ancestors. You always resist the Holy Spirit!” We can stand in the LORD’s sanctuary, reciting His Word, yet miss the work of the Spirit when we fail to examine our hearts.
