Peter receives a vision from God declaring all foods clean, preparing him to understand that the gospel is for Gentiles as well as Jews. He is then led to the house of Cornelius, a Roman centurion, where the Holy Spirit comes upon the Gentiles, showing that God accepts all who believe in Christ. When Peter reports this to the church in Jerusalem, they ultimately recognize that God has granted repentance and life even to the Gentiles.
God often challenges our assumptions so we can see His grace reaching further than we expected. These chapters remind us to stay open and obedient, trusting that God’s love is bigger than our boundaries.
