In Psalm 61, the writer, David, is calling on God and will continue to do so until he feels he is heard, vs. 1,2. He is asking that lovingkindness and truth preserve him, v7. In Psalm 62, he is waiting in silence for God, v1. He affirms this in v5, each time encouraging his own soul. Sometimes we cry with our voice; other times it is a heart-cry that God hears. Both can be intense, and God hears both.

When we know that God has heard , peace follows. David warns us not to trust in riches and then shares his own lesson. “Once God has spoken; twice I have heard this:  Power belongs to God” as does lovingkindness 62:11.
