“On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, ‘If any man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink,’” v37. He was speaking of the Holy Spirit whom those who believed in Him would soon receive.
Thirst is a natural desire of our physical bodies, but we are far more than physical. Rene Descartes, with his “I think therefore I am” was reminding his generation of this; the non-physical proved the physical. Yet many spend their lives “thirsting” for physical satisfaction, thinking it will satisfy the spiritual. The invitation of Christ has not been silenced. If any man is thirsty, the answer is still he or she can come to Jesus and drink.
