One cannot trace the spread of the early church without noting this chapter. Several times it records Paul and Timothy being prohibited by the Holy Spirit from speaking in certain places, vs 6,7. While being obedient to the Spirit, Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia calling for help. From Troas, they crossed the Aegean Sea and traveled down the coast to Macedonia. They were led to Lydia, a businesswoman, a worshipper of God who received the message of Christ and, with her household, was baptized. She was from Thyatira, the area from which Paul had been prohibited!
God’s leading is not always that dramatic, but our obedience is just as essential. Those reports will be seen in eternity.
