Mark’s narrative of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the shortest of the gospels. His focus is action, not conversations and issues. In fifteen verses he summarizes Isaiah’s prophecy of the ministry of John the Baptist, the Baptism of Jesus, the anointing of Jesus by the Holy Spirit, and Jesus being led by the Spirit into the wilderness for the purpose of confronting Satan, vs 12, 13, (Matt 4, Lk 4, Heb. 4:15)

Before Jesus was ready for ministry He was tested (tempted). If He could not defeat Satan in His own life, what help could He give us? But He was victorious and so we can be also.
