No prophet demonstrated more faith than Elijah (1 Kings 18), yet on hearing of Jezebel’s putting a price on his head, “He was afraid, and arose, and ran for his life,” 19:1-4. He sat under a Juniper tree and asked God to take his life, v4. Fatigued, he went to sleep, and when he awoke, an angel had brought him food and water. After eating he slept again, and again the food and water were there. No new mission was given to him until he was restored.
God could have rebuked Elijah for his running from Jezebel and exhausting himself. Instead, he sent food and water and told him to rest. Even a spiritual giant like Elijah needed food and rest; we are no different.
