“Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you” (17). Unlike Saul, David “inquired of the Lord” (2,4,11) seeking the Lord’s wisdom that led to victory over the Philistines (5). God’s priest and the holy ephod become the temporary “tabernacle” moving with David (6-8). Alternatively, “Saul sought him every day” but was blind to David’s movements (14). Even when Saul has the upper hand, God’s guidance provides an escape (28). Jonathan, the “rightful” heir to throne, aids and support’s David kingship (20).
Even when harried from every side, God provides wisdom, direction and affirmation. As God’s people, whatever we face, we know that “if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31).
